Alabama SCI Chapter Children's Hospital
The Start of a Permanent Trail-Phase 2


A week after Christmas and the Tom duBois Disney prints, donated by the Alabama Chapter of SCI, through the generosity of Richard McFalls, are hanging in an area where thousands of children can enjoy them regularly. So far the only problem is keeping them clean. The children are constantly touching them and that is the whole idea behind this project. This has been one big success story both for Children's Hospital and for the Alabama Chapter of SCI. The impact of this can only be appreciated by seeing the response of the children to the display. Most of the children are ailing in some way and this seems to take their mind off their immediate problems. Working with Denise Dexter and being able to see this first hand made Richard McFalls want to do more through the Alabama Chapter of SCI for the Hospital.

Richard's second donation consisted of 250 Disney beanbag toys, 60 Disney collectors' plates, 60 bas-relief movie theme plates, 20 Disney carousels and 55 Disney snow globes. Display of this collection would require designing and constructing special shelves. Denise worked with the hospital design engineers and came up with a great plan. Eight telephones were moved to make available enough space in a high traffic area of the hospital. The whole process took a couple of months, but as the pictures show, the results are magnificent.

Working with local organizations is an important part of SCI's mission and we feel there is none more deserving of our help than our youth. The Alabama Chapter is very proud of what has been accomplished thus far and for all the hard work and donations that Richard McFalls has put forth.
