Alabama SCI Chapter Children's Hospital
BEST JOB IN THE CITY
According to Denise Dexter, Facilities Design
Coordinator for Children's Hospital, who has been coordinating
the building and expansion of the trail with McFalls and
others, "This is the only children's hospital in the state
and patients come from all over the Southeast." Parents
and the many visitors to the 'Holiday Trail' have been delighted
with and have praised the priceless exhibit.
"I do have the best job in the City, because my clients
are kids!" Dexter said.
Not only is Dexter the Facilities Design Coordinator for
Children's Health Systems at the hospital, her own daughter
at age 13 had been a trauma patient at Children's after
being involved in an automobile accident.
Children especially enjoy finding the hidden characters
and dwarfs in the "Snow White and Seven Dwarfs" prints,
Dexter said. Current plans are now underway to expand the
trail, adding more pictures and prints and extending it
hospital wide carrying out the Safari Trail theme.
"The trail presentation reaches out and touches the young
people and for just a little time, takes their minds off
their problems," stated 2004 SCI Alabama Chapter President
Kraft. The exhibit also lets the children and visitors view
SCI in a different light, he said. "We certainly value McFalls
generous gifts which were donated in the name of SCI to
the Children's Hospital project," Kraft said. "Working with
local organizations is an important part of SCI's mission
and we feel there is none more deserving of our help than
our youth," he added. The Alabama chapter is very proud
of what has been accomplished thus far and for all the hard
work and donations that Richard McFalls has put forth."
"We are grateful to have the opportunity to participate
in our sport and as the citizens of a free society, to now
be able to give back to the community in support of the
sport we love so much," Kraft explained.
Kraft said he was heading to Washington D. C. to represent
his 300-member strong SCI Chapter to "protect our freedom
to hunt."
