Newfoundland has some of the largest black bear in North America and the average weight of the bear is between 250 and 350 pounds with a chance for a bear over 500 pounds. When not hunting the bear you can enjoy some great fishing. Coyotes can be taken at no charge. Licenses, tags, permits and all government taxes and rebates are included for the black bear, but the fishing license is not included and runs about $115. The hunt is for 6 days and can be taken in June 2010 for rifle or archery or the hunter can hunt the first two weeks of September 2010 for archery only. Pickup and return to the Gander Airport is included. The successful bidder must bring along a paying hunter at a rate of $2000 or a fisherperson at $1800. Hunters should arrive on a Saturday and leave the following Sunday evening or early Monday morning.
