This past May, my wife, Dianne, and I enjoyed a New Zealand
hunt (South Island) booked by Wes Hixon Outdoor Adventures
and Alex Monahan of Doughboy Safaris. After hearing Ralph
Marcum and Joy tell how wonderful their trip was, we had
to follow! Because Dianne was able to join me, this was without
a doubt the best hunting trip I have ever taken.
The arrangements and accommodations were all we could have
asked for. While I hunted, Dianne was entertained, shopping
and sightseeing, including nature hikes and the like by
Alex’s wife, Cheryl. Cheryl handles the ladies and gives it
100%. Dianne is already planning a return trip.
I was very fortunate that Dianne was able to be with me
when I took my Tahr and Chamois in the mountains. Both animals
taken were excellent. The mountains alone were breathtaking
and worth the trip. Also while on this trip, I took a very
nice Red Stag, Fallow Deer, and ram, as well as a day's limit
of Paradise ducks.
All in all, our experience was wonderful. I sincerely recommend
this trip to any of our members who might like to take their
companion. This trip, as I understand and experienced, can
be designed by Wes and Alex to entertain both hunter and
non-hunter as the case may be. Due to our time restraints, our trip was limited to ten days, travel included; however,
we could have stayed much longer to enjoy the beauty of
the South Island.
