ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2011 TROPHY AWARDS SUBMISSION

Great news for our members! The Board of Directors of the Alabama Chapter of Safari Club International has once again voted to suspend fees for animals entered into the judging for the 2011 hunting awards to be presented at the Chapter banquet on March 17, 2012. This is our way of saying THANK YOU for your membership in our Chapter and for your participation in this important aspect of our annual banquet.

Entries must be sent to John Chitwood at the address shown below so that they are received no later than February 17, 2012. Each entry must include an SCI measurement form; at least one but preferably two different color photos, and must be marked with the desired category: North American; Africa; South America, Europe, Asia, and South Pacific; Estate; Alabama Whitetail Deer; or Wild Turkey. IMPORTANT NOTE: A fully completed SCI measurement form (including full name of species, place taken, and the Free-Ranging selection) must accompany each submission. Failure to include this information may prevent your entry from being considered.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT OUR YOUTH CATEGORY! Every youth that submits an entry will be called up on stage at the banquet to receive recognition. Requirements and highlights of this award category include:

• The youth hunter must have been 15 years of age or younger at the time the animal was taken. Please write the birthdate of the youth hunter on the measurement form.

• The youth hunter does not have to belong to the Alabama Chapter of SCI but must be in the immediate family of a Chapter member. Include contact information for the Chapter member.

• If the animal entered would win one of the major awards, it will be included in the appropriate category. If not, it will be entered into the Youth category.

• The category will be judged on a basis similar to the Doug Willey award.
